At the Delta Chamber of Commerce, we are the Voice of Business in Delta. Our mission is to promote growth and prosperity through advocacy on behalf of Delta businesses.

 

Your Role:

To develop, market, and manage Delta Chamber of Commerce events and membership programs; build relationships with existing and future members and our valued sponsors.

 

Challenges to Be Met:

  • Design and deliver Chamber events and education seminars for in person and virtual attendance, from ideation to post-event evaluations;
  • Collaborate on, implement and execute membership recruitment and retention plans;
  • Recruit and engage event sponsors. Ensure all sponsor obligations are met, and contracts are fulfilled;
  • Act as vendor liaison for events including negotiating contracts, booking space, arranging food, beverage, supplies and audiovisual equipment, preparing signage and appropriate décor;
  • Recruit, train and manage event volunteers and summer students;
  • Manage all deliverables and receivables onsite at events for sponsors and vendors;
  • Write high quality external communications documents and create presentations, including sponsorship marketing materials and final reports that summarize & reconicle reveues and expenses of events;
  • Take initiative, manage multiple priorities, juggle complex tasks and meet overlapping deadlines under pressure;
  • Have flexibility to work additional hours during special events (ex. Business Excellence Awards, Golf Tournament, After 5s)
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication, presentation (public speaking), interpersonal, problem solving, and organizational skills combined with strong administrative, marketing and public relations skills;
  • Demonstrate proficiency with a wide range of technical systems and tools as a regular function of work, including content management systems, databases, word processing and spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft 365 suite and Canva;
  • Support and contribute to ongoing Delta Chamber initiatives including Visitor Centre operations;
  • Extensive knowledge of the City of Delta is an asset.

 

What We Are Looking For:

If you can answer YES to the following questions, you may be just the person we are looking for:

  • Do have at least 2 years of formal education in an event related field (event management, marketing, business administration) and 2 years equivalent job-related experience?
  • Do you have experience in event planning, preferably small (20 people) to large (500 people) events?
  • Do you have a “get things done” attitude needed to achieve the organizational goals of the Chamber?
  • Do you consider yourself to have excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills?
  • Do you work well with overlapping and frequent deadlines?
  • Do you like working as a member of a small highly collaborative team?
  • Do you have experience with the full Microsoft suite?
  • Do you have experience on all major social media platforms?
  • Do you love to learn? And bring energy to your daily activities?
  • Do you hold a valid BC Driver’s License and have means to reliable transportation?

 

Reports to: Executive Director (direct report)

Salary Range: $55,000 to $65,000 annually

Benefits: Competitve medical and dental benefits package, annual vacation

Location: in office (6201 60 Avenue, Delta) and event sites

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. Due to the nature of the role, flexibility is required based on deliverables.
